It’s no secret, if you know us, that my husband and I LOVE adventure! We’ve also done away with the term bucket list and for good reason.
I don’t know about you, but for me, focusing on the negative aspect of mortality isn’t nearly as uplifting as say an adventure. By creating an adventure list, you shift the focus from dying onto living, fully living and squeezing the most out of this one life we get to live.
Why adventure?
Adventure is more than just traveling to exotic locations or performing dangerous acts just to check it off a list. Adventure is an attitude! An attitude that we can apply to the “normalcy” of daily life. We have found that adventure is a sense of being and a contagious attitude that changes your life from within and positively affects the lives of others around you. It’s letting go of fear or doing things that scare you, to gain freedom. Adventure is about saying yes and venturing out of your comfort zone to experience growth. It’s about the journey, what you learn along the way about yourself and this big beautiful world.
Adventure is about breaking barriers and connecting cultures by fully engaging with others with compassion and empathy. Having a sense of adventure creates space to replace judgment with love and allows us to see that we are all more alike than different. It can be as simple as honking and waving at strangers as you drive by or saying hi to the person in line behind you, and it can be found in the everyday. It can also be as extravagant as hiking Mount Everest, because ultimately, it’s all about creating a shift in perspective and attitude that ultimately leads to a ripple effect with unlimited potential. That my friends is contagious!
Say yes to what sets your soul on fire!
Listen to your own inner voice and show up to those moments that serve you and fill your cup. Do not write something down just to check it off or go somewhere just because it is popular.
Ask yourself:
- What is calling to your heart?
- What is your passion?
- Is there something you have been wanting to learn?
These are all great questions to ponder and in doing so you can get clear about our desires and core values. Every time you say yes and show up to an activity or event that lights a spark in you, you open up and align that energy to the world around you and magical things start to happen. When we nurture our own soul first, we have the capacity to better serve others. That can also mean saying no. Saying no also flexes that adventure muscle and is 100% okay to do without giving a reason (trust me I am working on this too).
Start small and build up!
Start by conquering a small fear and build upon that. Once you “climb a couple of mountains” your perspective and fear start to shift. Hang onto that, ride that, and use that to create more ideas and adventures.
Keep an open mind and heart!
Keeping your mind open to new ideas and your heart open to new perspectives, will almost certainly guarantee new experiences and in those new experiences, you learn and grow. Either you learn and expand your mind and help shift your current beliefs or you are reminded why your core values are so important to you. When you keep your mind and heart open, you also let go of judgment, allowing yourself to fully appreciate a place, experience or person for what it truly is or who they truly are. By staying open to possibilities that are out of the ordinary, you may even discover hidden talents. An open mind and heart also frees you from having to be in complete control of everything you experience, leading us into the next step that is, leaving expectations behind.
Leave expectations behind!
There is a joy like no other, that can be found when we leave expectations behind and embrace infinite possibilities. Expectations so often come with a sense of pressure and when not met exactly how we envisioned them, can lead to disappointment. By releasing expectations, we are able to stay present and receive the gifts that each moment has to offer. Instead of focusing on expectations, look for opportunities to soak in the love and joy that is around us and fully participate in each moment. Then can we take that love and joy within us and offer it to others on our journey.
Write it down, whatever it is, and make it happen!” – Amanda Geissler
Lastly, write it down, share it and make it happen! When you share, you open your adventure to the universe, and it conspires to help you make it happen. By sharing your goals and dreams, you invite others to help in making it happen and may even inspire their own sense of adventure. People love to help and love to be a part of something bigger. Community and connection are priceless and essential as we travel through life.
Adventure to us is living, fully living!
We hope you join us soon!
